Our nation’s youth need guidance to help build fit bodies and strong minds. Your involvement will foster a generation that is less prone to disease, are higher academic achievers, and more educated about food and its effects on health. These factors can have lasting effects on a child’s overall development and future.
It's going to take all of us working together to help our youth build fit bodies and strong minds. There are plenty of ways to make an impact. Do your part by participating in one of the service projects below.
10 Ways to Get Involved

- Encourage a child to meet the President’s Active Lifestyle Challenge
- Conduct summer feeding program outreach

First Lady, Federal Agencies and Let's Read. Let's Move.
Let's Read. Let's Move. seeks to combat childhood obesity and summer reading loss by engaging youth in summer reading and physical activity, as well as by providing access to healthy, affordable food. This initiative is an Administration-wide effort led by the Corporation for National and Community Service in collaboration with First Lady Michelle Obama and five federal agencies - U.S. Department of Education, Department of Interior, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Agriculture, and Institute of Museums and Libraries.
First Lady Michelle Obama
Nearly a year ago, the First Lady began a national conversation with America’s children about proper nutrition and the role food plays in living a healthy life. That discussion grew into the Let’s Move campaign. The campaign will combat the epidemic of childhood obesity through a comprehensive approach that builds on effective strategies, and mobilizes public and private sector resources.
U. S. Department of Education
Reading five books over the summer prevents learning loss. Working with DOE, Let's Read. Let's Move. will increase awareness about the critical importance of summer learning and encourage Americans to read to children. Additionally, the Department of Education's 2010 Summer Enrichment Series will invite Cabinet members, Administration officials, and other public figures to read children’s books, promote healthy lifestyles, and participate in games and fitness activities with children in pre-kindergarten through third grade.
